Certified ARFID Specialist

Hello! I'm MaryRose Brown, RD. I am a Registered Dietitian who practices through a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) lens and an "All Foods Fit" approach. I firmly believe that all bodies deserve respect, care, and nourishment. My mission is to guide individuals towards the development of a positive and flexible relationship with food and their bodies.
I specialize in working with school aged children, teens, and emerging adults, helping them cultivate a strong sense of self-worth and body image within the Intuitive Eating framework. My expertise includes supporting individuals with various eating disorders, including ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). My goal is to empower each person to build confidence in exploring both new and familiar foods, transforming eating times into positive, stress-free experiences.
My journey began with a Culinary Nutrition degree from Johnson & Wales University in Denver, where I combined my love of food with evidence-based nutrition. I gained valuable experience teaching cooking and nutrition classes across various age groups before honing my expertise in eating disorder treatment through internships and professional work at Eating Recovery Center.
I continue to integrate Family-Based Treatment (FBT) principles into my work with children, adolescents, and their families/caregivers, helping them navigate food challenges in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
Outside of my work, I love exploring the outdoors with my family in and beyond Colorado, always seeking new adventures and experiences.
I’m honored to walk alongside you on this journey, whether you're looking to heal your relationship with food, support your child, or embrace intuitive eating in a way that feels authentic to you. Let’s create a space where food is joyful, bodies are respected, and nourishment feels empowering.
"MaryRose has helped my daughter make real and significant progress! In the time since we have started, I see great progress in her flexibility and openness with trying new foods and tolerating eating around others. We learned a lot about how much food she should be eating and what types. MaryRose, I want you to know that I think you are fantastic"
-L.S., mother of an 11 year old
"MaryRose Brown was instrumental in helping with our 15 year old's diet. Prior to working with her, he had a very limited diet due to an eating disorder. She has helped to get him to eat well over 40 new food types. I think one of Mary Rose’s unique abilities is her capacity to relate to all ages of people whether it was our youngster, or us parents. She was always very supportive of our son’s desire to gain weight while helping him through the necessity of trying new foods whether this was a volume of intake, food type, or food consistency. She also helped all of us in our journey to finding the proper health and weight gain supplements for our son.
She does this all with a great attitude and is constantly positive and smiling while encouraging people to make necessary dietary changes.
We cannot hand out enough praise for Mary Rose. We will always remember her for being an amazing clinician who helped changed our son’s well being immensely while also helping his parents on his journey to dietary recovery!"
-Lynn C., father of a 9th grader
Mary Rose was absolutely wonderful. She helped me learn new ways to look at food, and the value a good diet. She also cared for me and I am very satisfied with her help. She was a key part in my eating journey and with out her I wouldn't be where I am without her guidance!
-G.E., 17 year old
"We are so grateful for MaryRose's expertise, insight, and hard work on ARFID. We worked with MaryRose for about a year. She was supportive, understanding, and creative in working with a teen boy who has struggled with ARFID for many years. His diet was so limited he suffered from anemia and other nutritional deficiencies and had not hit his growth spurt. As an athlete, he knew he needed to learn to eat better. But as someone struggling with disordered eating, he didn't really know how to do it. MaryRose helped him try a variety of new foods that enabled him to improve his nutrition and gave him confidence to venture into more social spaces (restaurants/friends' houses) where he could confidently try something new and find something to eat that met his needs and preferences. She taught him how to calm his inner fears about food; how to tamp down his anxiety/fear about trying new foods, and overall helped him learn how to manage his ARFID. Amazing!"
-Danielle, mother of a teen boy with ARFID
